A resurgent the Russian player won his initial title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-time coach his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Moutet.

This marks his first championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court from that period of the previous year.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured 21 titles at twenty-one various events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.

His defensive approach and recurring outbursts on court had caused some to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to create a final set.

He rescued four early-game break points in a close final set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he clinched the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
